The West Lake Hills board of adjustment approved three special-use permits April 13 for a private school and special-needs center at 3423 Bee Caves Road, West Lake Hills.

Applicant Clay Fuller, the real estate agent managing the properties, told the board of adjustment—which is composed of all the City Council members and votes on zoning matters— the special-needs center, Spark Learning, will occupy the second floor of the first building and private school Acton Academy will occupy the second building.

This will be the second Westlake-area location for Acton Academy, which will open a new school on Camp Craft Road in the fall.

The Bee Caves Road buildings are currently being used as a national hotline call center, Fuller said.

Mitch Johnson, who spoke at the meeting, is an Acton Academy graduate and advocated for the private school to open in his building.

Fuller said he estimated 10 to 15 children would use Spark Learning’s services and 20 to 30 students would attend Acton Academy.

Correction: Child's Day will not be moving to the building at 3423 Bee Caves Road as reported previously.
