Scott & White Healthcare, a division of Baylor Scott & White Health, broke ground on a new 12,000-square-foot clinic at 1507 Rivery Blvd. on Jan. 16.

The new clinic is expected to open in July andwill feature 18 exam rooms, two treatment rooms and onsite X-ray and laboratory services and house four doctors with room to add two more physicians. Dr. Stephen Lawlis will serve as the new clinic's medical director.

The clinic is located on Rivery Boulevard across from The Summit at Rivery Park development, which is under construction and will include a hotel and conference center as well as multifamily housing, The Brownstone at the Summit single-family townhomes, retail and dining.

"I [also]want to thank [developer] Jeff Novak whose energy and vision has kind of brought this whole Rivery project togethera place where you can live and you can be entertained and you can dine and you can shop, and now we are going to be able to add health care to that list," said Dr. Paul Berg, a physician with Scott & White who will be working in the clinic. "We are thrilled to be a part of this neighborhood. We think it's going to be a great place in Georgetown and represents the absolute best things in Georgetown."

The clinic will replace the Georgetown Central Clinic previously located off University Avenue. Patients of that clinic are now being seen at Scott & White's clinic at 425 University Blvd.

"We are thrilled to be back in Georgetown very soon and doing the work where we live and taking care of our friends and neighbors," Berg said.
