A triathlon with roots in El Paso is coming to western Travis County.
The Mighty Mujer Triathlon will be held June 9 at Lakeway’s City Park, which will also celebrate its 25th anniversary throughout the month of April.
The event in Lakeway marks the event’s fourth market expansion since its creation in El Paso in 2012, having expanded to Tuscon and Miami prior to coming to the Austin area. Information on the Mighty Mujer Triathlon’s website states the all-female competition’s inaugural run hosted 350 participants.
“This is great for Austin and the Lakeway area,” Mighty Mujer Triathlon Austin race director Peri Kowal of JANE Events said via a press release. “It’s a fantastic course, highlighting beautiful Lake Travis, and we’re offering a series of free clinics to help women prepare for the swim, transitions, and cycling.”
The release states the race offers a 500-meter lake swim, a 10-mile bike course, and a 2.5-mile run along Lake Travis, and online registration is open at www.mightymujertriathlon.com.
