An annual holiday food drive benefitting the Central Texas Food Bank aims to provide 150,000 meals for those in need.
The
Stuff the Bus food drive—hosted by Capital Metro, Central Texas Food Bank and Whole Foods Market—is Dec. 8-10 and invites residents to donate food at the five Austin-area Whole Foods locations.
“No one should go hungry, especially during the holidays,” said Derrick Chubbs, president and CEO of the Central Texas Food Bank. “We’re proud to partner again this year with Whole Foods and Capital Metro to nourish hungry people and bring hope for the holidays to our neighbors in need.”
The 150,000-meal goal is triple the goal set in 2016. The Central Texas Food Bank serves more than 325,000 clients each year in more than 20 Central Texas counties.
Residents are asked to donate nonperishable food items, including canned meats, canned vegetables, pasta, pasta sauce, beans, healthy cereals, nonfat dry milk powder and peanut butter.
Monetary donations may also be made at the register when checking out at Whole Foods or online through Dec. 14 at
www.capmetro.org/stuffthebus.
Buses are open for donations from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at these locations:
- Arbor Trails, 4301 W. William Cannon Drive, Austin
