Austin Parks Foundation has opened registration for the fall edition of its twice-a-year event, It’s My Park Day. The Nov. 4 volunteer work day brings together thousands of Austin residents to clean up and transform parks, trails and greenbelts throughout the city. For the fall work day, there are more than 80 projects available, including Zilker Park, Shoal Creek, Dick Nichols District Park, Great Hills Park and Mount Bonnell. During the spring event in March, more than 3,200 volunteers performed a total of 10,000 work hours at 100 different projects in Austin. The foundation reported the number is equivalent to seven park maintenance employees working full time for one year, or about $250,000 worth of work. Residents can visit www.austinparks.org/impd to register for the volunteer work day and may find a full list of park and trails projects at https://austinparks.givepulse.com/group/116293-Its-My-Park-Day-Fall.
