Hill-Bert's Burgers, a longtime family-owned Austin restaurant in business since 1973, will close its Burnet Road location June 6.
Hilbert Maldonado, who alongside his wife, Lucille, owns Hill-Bert's Burgers, learned four months ago that his Burnet Road lease would not be renewed.
"Although we're losing one location, we look forward to getting another one open," Maldonado said.
He broke the news May 10 to employees, who will shift to the West 35th Street store until Maldonado can reopen his Cameron Road location, which has been closed since March 2013. He plans to bring the location up to building codes in time for opening this summer.
The delivery areas of all three locations are still being honored, Maldonado said. The original Hill-Bert's Burgers location on North Lamar Boulevard—where there is currently a P. Terry's Burger Stand—was sold in 2008.
