Round Rock 2030—the city’s new comprehensive plan that guides development and land use—is beginning to take shape. Public meetings were held in February and March to gather community input. Themes that emerged from the meetings include desires for mixed-use developments, more options for affordable housing and increased senior living facilities, said Brad Wiseman, Round Rock’s director of planning and development. “It’s been great to see the feedback we’ve gotten so far,” Wiseman said. “In terms of public engagement, this is above and beyond any major planning initiative we’ve done in the past.” Developing a comprehensive plan is a process the city engages in once a decade. The plan is broad by design, suggesting an overall vision that will guide land use and development for the next 10 years. Using community input, city staff will continue to refine a vision for the city’s future. The plan will then be presented to City Council. Opportunities remain for public input. An online survey is available until mid-June at www.roundrocktexas.gov/roundrock2030. Additional public meetings and presentations to City Council are planned for the coming months.
