The city of New Braunfels is working on a comprehensive plan that will steer the future of the city through 2030.

Nine advisory groups have been working on a vision for New Braunfels’ future in the following areas: economic competitiveness; parks; recreation and open space; transportation; tourism; natural resources and infrastructure; urban design and cultural, heritage and historic preservation; growth and future land use; education and youth; and facilities, services and capital improvements.

A poll is open at www.envisionnewbraunfels.org/participate-in-our-online-poll/ that provides the public an opportunity to weigh in on the goals and strategies of each area.

A communitywide open house will take place Jan. 23 from 3:30-7:30 p.m. at the New Braunfels Civic/Convention Center, 375 S. Catell Ave., at which guests will have an additional opportunity to chime in on the plan’s progress. The city is scheduled to approve the comprehensive plan this spring.
