Residents in The Homestead area of Bee Cave, just off West Hwy. 71 near the intersection at RM 620, should be aware the low-water crossing on Great Divide may close due to anticipated heavy rainfall, city officials announced this afternoon.
"If we have heavy rain, the Great Divide low-water crossing will be impassable," Bee Cave Police Chief Gary Miller said. "However, the rain events are usually short-lived, and within an hour after the rain stops or slows, the roadway is open. Our concern now is heavy rain over an extended period of time may result in closure for longer than the normal hour or two."
The last closure of the low-water crossing occurred on Jan. 18, 2017, Mayor Pro Tem Bill Goodwin said.
A news release cautions residents to make sure to have on hand all "prescription medicine and other medical needs available for a few days; food supply to last the same period of time; and flashlights with extra batteries in case of an extended power outage.”
