The city of San Marcos, Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and Texas State University have partnered on a project that will add sidewalks and various improvements on the portion of Sessom Drive from Aquarena Springs to North LBJ drives. Project Engineer Shaun Condor said the project contractor is hoping to complete the project by Christmas, weather permitting. The project will add 8-to-10-foot wide sidewalks on both sides of the road within the project area, Condor said. The project will also improve the intersection of State Street and Sessom Drive and improve compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act in certain areas. Condor said lane closures will likely affect the project area until construction is complete. The four-lane road is currently down to two lanes in either direction.
