Officials with the Austin Convention Center and the city of Austin will hold a town hall meeting Feb. 25 to update Austinites on the latest plans for the proposed convention center expansion and the various ways to pay for it, as well as gather public input.

Convention center staff presented several options for financing the proposed downtown expansion—which would nearly double the size of exhibit space and take up several more city blocks—at last week's Austin City Council work session.

Several officials have said they will be in attendance, including District 9 Council Member Kathie Tovo, Austin Mayor Steve Adler, Travis County officials and members of the Downtown Austin Alliance, a group of downtown business and neighborhood stakeholders.

Meeting details

  • Where: Austin Convention Center, 500 E. Cesar Chavez St., third floor, meeting room 9AB

  • When: Feb. 25, 10 a.m.-noon

  • Parking: Attendees should park in the convention center's Second Street parking garage between Brazos and San Jacinto streets. Attendees will receive a free parking coupon at the meeting.

This story has been corrected to show the Downtown Austin Alliance is a group of downtown business and neighborhood stakeholders, not the city's marketing entity.
