San Marcos
As the holiday season comes to a close, the city of San Marcos will offer several options for disposing of live Christmas trees.
From Dec. 26-Jan. 13, residents can drop off their Christmas trees at the Grant Harris parking lot, 401 E. Hopkins St., San Marcos. Trees of all sizes with no ornaments, tinsel or wires will be mulched on site (mulch will be available to residents free of charge).
A curbside Christmas tree service will be available through Jan. 31. Trees up to 4 feet long with no ornaments, tinsel or wires can be bundled with twine and set out on normal trash or green waste pickup days. Trees may also be cut up and placed in green waste carts for pickup, but the lid must be able to close.
The city recommends stopping by Green Guy Recycling, 937 Hwy. 80, San Marcos, to dispose of artificial trees and broken string lights.
Buda
Texas Disposal Systems, Inc. will be picking up Christmas trees from Buda residents on regular service days from Dec. 26 to Jan. 13. Trees must be clear of all decor, be cut into 4-foot lengths and bundled with rope or twine, Public Information Officer David Marino said.
Kyle
Until Jan. 27, the City of Kyle Parks & Recreation Department has set up "drop-off" areas at city parks for residents to drop off natural Christmas trees, other dead trees, shrubs and bushes. The trees will be chipped and used in parks.
