SUNSET VALLEY–At its Aug. 16 meeting, City Council members heard a presentation of the proposed budget for fiscal year 2016-17, which is slated to be adopted Sept. 20.

The preliminary budget has proposed total expenditures of nearly $17 million. A new project fund has been established for the city’s project to establish new permanent facilities for its police and public works departments, which currently operate in portable buildings. That fund will consist of $6.4 million, the largest amount in any of the budget’s major operating funds. The city will hold a public hearing to gain input on the budget Sept. 6 at City Hall.
