The Travis County Sheriff’s Office is asking members of the public to refrain from contacting the agency regarding donations and fundraisers for Sgt. Craig Hutchinson, who was killed at his home in Round Rock on July 25.

“We ask for everyone to give us a little time,” TSCO spokesperson Kristen Dark said.

Dark said the agency and Hutchinson family have been overwhelmed by individuals seeking to donate to the family. No official donation pages or websites have been established by TSCO or the family, she said.

The Sheriff’s Memorial & Benevolent Society of Travis County Inc. had been accepting contributions; however, Dark said people should wait until further notice to send donations.

No timeline has been set for when the agency will begin accepting donations. Dark said updates will be made on the TSCO Facebook page and website.

Hutchinson was killed during a suspected burglary at his home, according to TCSO. He was off duty when he returned home, but put himself back on duty when he radioed in about the burglary. He was set to retire in September.

Hutchinson was laid to rest Aug. 2 with police honors at Cook-Walden Capital Parks, 14501 N. I-35.
