The board of aldermen for the village of San Leanna approved a $61,600 road overlay project Jan. 21.

The project addresses potholes, cracks and rough edges on Circle Drive between FM 1626 and Hacienda Drive, a span of 1,630 feet, Village Administrator Kathleen Lessing said.

The board chose the less expensive of two options, Lessing said. The board could have chosen a full-depth reclamation of the Circle Drive segment at a cost of $137,700.

The overlay option would be just as durable as the full-depth reclamation, Lessing said.

“It’s quite a savings,” Lessing said. “And if the engineer says it’s just as durable, it makes sense.”

The board also authorized on Jan. 21 a request for bids for the road improvement project. The board will review the bids and select a contractor in April, Lessing said.

Construction may begin in May and end in July.
