Georgetown City Council approved an interlocal agreement with the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization at its Jan. 26 meeting to begin a Williams Drive Study.
The study will address mobility and economic development issues along the Williams corridor from the area just east of Austin Avenue to the city limits just past FM 3405.
City of Georgetown Project Coordinator Andreina Davila said the project will recommend projects and provide implementation plans to enhance transportation safety, mobility and connectivity; enhance economic development; and establish a gateway into the city. Projects approved in the city’s 2015 road bond could alter mobility patterns in the area, according to city officials.
The study, which could begin in April, is expected to be completed in early 2017.
