At its June 18 meeting, City Council members unanimously approved implementing two speed limit changes in District 8, which is located in the Southwest Austin area.

Effective immediately, the changes affect West Slaughter Lane and Escarpment Boulevard. There was no discussion on the agenda items, which were approved by council members on consent.

Austin City Council members approved two changes to speed limits on roads in Southwest Austin:

  • Establish a speed limit of 45 mph on a section of West Slaughter Lane from South MoPac to Escarpment Boulevard
  • Establish a speed limit of 35 mph on a section of Escarpment Boulevard from SH 45 to its terminus south of SH 45
