In December, the city hosted a ground breaking ceremony for Radiation Detection Co., which is relocating its corporate headquarters from Gilroy, Calif., to Georgetown near the Texas Life-sciences Collaboration Center.

RDC has been manufacturing radiation detection equipment mostly for medical customers since 1949.

In July the Georgetown Economic Development Corp. approved a $320,000 land agreement for the companys relocation.

Of RDCs 65 employees, 33 will be relocating. The rest will be hired locally, Georgetown Economic Development Director Mark Thomas said.
