Here's what you need to know to start your week in Central Austin.

1. Capital Metro in midst of largest service change in its history
As part of the Connections 2025 10-year service place that board members approved in February, Capital Metro is slated to change more than half of its bus routes starting next June.

2. ACC Highland breaks ground on second phase of its development
The $152 million project is funded by voter-approved bonds and will include the construction of a creative digital media center as well as culinary arts and hospital centers with a restaurant staffed by ACC students and a bioscience incubator.

3. Downtown Commission throws support behind Mayor Adler's "Downtown Puzzle" plan
Austin Mayor Steve Adler pitched his "Downtown Puzzle" plan to the city's Downtown Commission, one week before the Austin City Council is scheduled to vote on it. The funding plan includes an Austin Convention Center expansion and a plan to address homelessness in Austin using revenue from an increased hotel occupancy tax.

4. Google unveils new downtown Austin offices
The tech company opened the doors of its new, state-of-the-art downtown office at the new 500 W. Second St. building on Sept. 19. Google celebrated the opening with a $250,000 grant to the city of Austin to advance its Master Community Workforce Plan.

5. Environment Texas finds some Austin ISD schools have lead in drinking water
The nonprofit testing organization said a number of Austin ISD schools and facilities had tested positive for at least some lead in their drinking water in the last year. Although Austin ISD maintains that it is compliant with state and federal law, Environment Texas says EPA standards are not stringent enough to keep students safe.

6. SoCo staple Uncommon Objects to move to new South Austin location
The eclectic antique store and gift shop Uncommon Objects will close its South Congress location on Oct. 17 and reopen at 1602 Fortview Road, Austin, on Oct. 27.
