UPDATE 3:45 p.m.

The scheduled closure of the Oltorf Street exit on southbound I-35 for Monday evening has been delayed due to inclement weather. TxDOT has not yet announced when the closure will be rescheduled.

On Monday evening, the southbound I-35 exit at Oltorf Street will close permanently as crew converts the Woodland Avenue exit into the Woodland Avenue/Oltorf Street exit, according to an Oct. 5 news release from TxDOT.

Weather permitting, at 10 p.m. on Monday southbound I-35 will be reduced to one lane between the entrance ramps north of Woodland Avenue and Oltorf Streets as crews restripe, install new signage and close the ramp.

Lanes are expected to reopen at 6 a.m. on Tuesday and may close again Tuesday evening, if necessary for crews to complete the work.

Drivers who need to access Oltorf Street are advised to exit at the new Woodland Avenue/Oltorf Street exit. Road signs will alert drivers to the change and direct them to exit earlier.

This ramp closure change is part of the ongoing I-35 at Oltorf Street project, which aims to create longer merge distances to improve mobility and safety.

Ramp improvements that fall under this project are expected to reduce crashes in the area by 20 percent, according to the release.
