The University of Texas President Greg Fenves confirmed one student was killed and three others were seriously injured Monday in a stabbing on the university campus.
Fenves called the incident an "unconscionable violent attack," but no further threat remains on campus, he said.
UT Police officials confirmed a call was received at 1:49 p.m., and officers responded within two minutes of being alerted. Almost immediately upon arrival, officers apprehended 21-year-old Kendrex J. White, who is in custody in connection with the stabbings, according to more than two dozen eyewitnesses.

City of Austin and The University of Texas law enforcement officials have arrested a suspect in connection with a stabbing on the UT campus in Austin that resulted in at least one fatality.
The incident took place Monday at about 1:56 p.m. near Gregory Gym at the intersection of 21st Street and Speedway.

Three people were transported to the hospital after sustaining "potentially serious injuries" during the incident, according to the Austin-Travis County EMS. The agency said there are reports of other patients with non-life-threatening injuries.
