The Austin-Travis County Sobering Center, located at 1213 Sabine St., Austin, announced Laura Sovine as its new executive director June 11. Sovine previously served as the executive director of Austin Recovery, which provides addiction treatment for local residents. The Sobering Center, which provides an alternative to jail for intoxicated people, opened in 2018. www.soberingcenter.org
