Seton Healthcare Family is integrating its Psychiatric Emergency Department, or SPED, within the emergency department at Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas on Aug. 31 at 7 a.m., according to a news release from the hospital. SPED has been housed at the 2 North entrance of the UMC Brackenridge campus. This change comes as Seton prepares to return the University Medical Center Brackenridge campus back to Central Health. Along with the change of location, Seton said it is changing SPED give patients “fully integrated emergency medical and psychiatric care” within the Dell Seton emergency department. There will also now be a psychiatric care physician available 24/7 for patients. “Seton is committed to providing the right care at the right time, with the patient’s needs at the center of everything we do,” the news release said.
