Updated: July 6, 1:30 p.m. The Kuykendahl Road dual bridge, which has been under construction since last fall, opened to commuters at noon July 6, according Harris County Precinct 4 officials. In an effort to enhance traffic flow between Harris and Montgomery counties, the $6 million project widened the road from a single two-lane bridge to a dual bridge with two north- and two southbound lanes over-passing Spring Creek. The project was originally scheduled for completion by May 17, however inclement weather pushed the opening date back to June 22 and again to July 6, said Pamela Rocchi, director of Harris County Precinct 4 Capital Improvement Projects division. One lane of the new bridge opened to the public June 21 to allow for southbound movement on the road while improvements to the existing bridge were completed; however, both lanes did not open until July 6. The expansion project was a joint effort between Harris County Precinct 4, Montgomery County Precinct 3 and The Woodlands Road Utility District No. 1. Construction was completed by Texas Sterling Construction Co. For more information on Montgomery County Precinct 3 transportation projects, click here.
