The Travis County Transportation and Natural Resources Department will provide free Christmas tree recycling between Dec. 26 and Jan. 10.

Residents can drop off their Christmas trees at the Westside Service Center at 4501 RM 620, Austin; the East Service Center at 6011 Blue Bluff Road, Austin; the Travis County Softball Complex at 3614 FM 973, Del Valle; or the 1431 Transfer Station at 2625 Woodall Drive, Cedar Park.

Only natural trees will be accepted. Residents are instructed to remove all decorations and tree stands before dropping off their trees and not to place them in a tree bag.

Any trees with artificial snow will not be accepted.

If a tree is taller than six feet, it must be cut in half.


City of Austin residents will also be able to drop off trees at Zilker Park between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Dec. 28, Dec. 29, Jan. 4 and Jan. 5.

Holiday lights that no longer work and holiday packaging, such as Styrofoam and cardboard, can be recycled at the Recycle and Reuse Drop-off Center at 2514 Business Center Drive, Austin.
