Kendra Scott, founder and CEO of the Austin-based jewelry company Kendra Scott, and The University of Texas at Austin announced the opening of the Kendra Scott Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute at the university at an event Sept. 24.

The institute will open in the College of Fine Arts in spring 2020 and serve as a programming hub, according to a press release. It will offer a women’s leadership workshop series, a women’s leadership summit, an internship program, mentorship opportunities and a speaker series.

Additionally, the McCombs School of Business will offer a Kendra Scott Fashion & Lifestyle Entrepreneurship course, and the College of Natural Sciences will offer an accessories design and marketing course, per the release.

Scott founded her company from a spare bedroom in 2002. Today, she oversees over 2,000 employees and 100 stand-alone stores, including two in Central Austin on North Lamar Boulevard and a flagship on South Congress Avenue.
