Vegetarian restaurant Mr. Natural is closing its 2414 A South Lamar Blvd., Austin, location after 20 years in business, the owners announced on Instagram on June 26. The restaurant’s last day of service is June 30.
The why
“The main reason is we're still trying to recover from COVID-19,” co-owner Isabel Mendoza said. “We were closed for six months, and that really has affected us.”
Mendoza added the rising costs of rent and produce have also compelled the restaurant to shutter.
Quote of note
“I’m really sad this is closing,” Mendoza said. “When I graduated from high school, I told my mom and my dad that I wanted to help them run this. So I've been here since 2003, running it. I have a lot of memories.”
