The team behind
Stella San Jac, 310 E. Fifth St., plans to serve approachable, healthy and locally inspired food. The new restaurant will be open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
“We love the name Stella because it exemplifies all things Austin,” Stella San Jac General Manager David Dickinson said in a news release. “Stella means 'star' in Latin and, for us, relates to the celebration of the Lone Star, which symbolizes Texas pride as an independent state.
"The restaurant also weaves in Austin’s love of music with design elements inspired by the American-built Stella guitar played by many notable artists in the '20s and '30s,” he said.
The menu will include a variety of items, such as blueberry sweet bread french Toast, gulf shrimp and lump crab roll as well as braised short ribs with sweet potato mash and green apple slaw.
Stella San Jac will seat 150 people and include space for live music performed by local musicians on a weekly basis, according to a news release. There is also a full bar that serves handcrafted cocktails, local craft beers and wine.
“I am excited that we are opening a restaurant that will represent Austin’s growing culinary scene. Stella San Jac will be a cool place to hang out and relax,” Dickinson said in the release. “I want it to be a place where foodies and beverage aficionados are proud to go, but where everyone feels comfortable with warm and sincere service.”
Stella San Jac management is still hiring servers, bartenders and bussers.
