With all locations reporting, Sally Hernandez has been elected Travis County sheriff, according to unofficial results. Hernandez received 271,408 votes, or 60.33 percent of votes, and Republican candidate Joe G. Martinez received 142,156 votes, or 31.6 percent. Libertarian Eric Guerra received 22,185 votes, or 4.93 percent of votes, and Green Party candidate Debbie Russell received 14,154 votes, or 3.15 percent.

Hernandez will be Travis County's second female sheriff. Margo Frasier served from 1996 to 2004.

Sally Hernandez is set to become Travis County's next sheriff, according to unofficial results. Hernandez received 236,437 total votes, or 61.74 percent of votes, while Republican opponent Joe G. Martinez received 118,580 total votes, or 30.96 percent. Libertarian Party candidate Eric Guerra received 16,867 total votes, or 4.4 percent, and Green Party candidate Debbie Russell received 11,071 total votes, or 2.89 percent.

Democratic candidate for Travis County sheriff Sally Hernandez is en route to the Driskill Hotel, where Travis County Democrats are gathering for a watch party. Hernandez, who is leading in early voting with 62 percent of the tallies, was not available by phone, but campaign treasurer Cecilia Crossley said, “It’s been a great evening for us.” Republican Joe Martinez, who was at Angie’s Mexican Restaurant, stepped out of the restaurant when called for a comment. Martinez had yet to see the early voting results. “Looks like Mrs. Hernandez just won,” he said, when read the results. “It is what it is. The people have spoken, and I respect their honesty and their ability come out and vote.”

Democrat Sally Hernandez is leading Republican Joe Martinez in the Travis County sheriff election, according to unofficial early voting results. Hernandez received 220,647 votes, or 64.42 percent, of the early tallies. Martinez earned 108,553 votes, or 30.71 percent. Green Party candidate Debbie Russell received 9,784 votes, or 2.77 percent, while Libertarian Eric Guerra received 14,515 votes, or 4.11 percent. All results are unofficial until canvassed.

Polls are set to close in less than three hours. Travis County residents will know who is set to become the county's next sheriff by the end of the night.
