A toy store and candy shop hybrid relocated to Burnet Road from 4613 Airport Blvd., Austin, on Sept. 15—a space nearly 50% bigger than the previous location.

Toy Joy opened in Austin in 1987 and began offering toys for people of all ages, Chief Operating Officer Robby Pettinato said. In 2017, its sister company, Yummi Joy, joined the scene, stocked with candy, coffee and ice cream.

In addition to the newest location on Burnet, Toy Joy also has a location downtown at 403 W. Second St., and an outpost location at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Gate 11.

Pettinato said beginning Oct. 4, the company will also begin operating a Toy Joy at The Thinkery in Mueller, 1830 Simond Ave., Austin, in place of The Thinkery's former gift shop.

“We strongly believe no one is too old to experience the fun and joy that toys and games can bring, and want to make sure Toy Joy is welcoming and accessible for people of all ages, backgrounds and identities,” Pettinato said. “From wooden toys for toddlers to high-end Japanese collectible figures, we aim to have something that would interest anyone.”
