The new concept, Tweedy's, aims to maintain the character of the Spider House Cafe, said Michel Issa, who owns the 2908 Fruth St., Austin, property with Jimmy Nassour.
Locals Johnny Yaklin and Shannon Leboeuf, part of a group called Animal Haus, are behind the new concept.
The Spider House Cafe, located near The University of Texas, closed in March 2020 due the pandemic and did not reopen. The cafe had been open since 1995.
“We’re all Austin people, and we’ve spent our youth in this building, and we’re trying to bring it back to life," Yaklin said.
