Panama-based airline Copa Airlines will join Austin Bergstrom-International Airport as the airport’s sixth international airline.

Beginning July 6, Copa Airlines will offer nonstop flights between Austin and Panama City as well as connections to 55 destinations in Latin America from Tocumen International Airport in Panama City.

“This exciting announcement has been years in the making,” ABIA CEO Jacqueline Yaft said in a statement. “AUS is proud to bring more convenient options for connecting Central Texas to Central and South America.”

Austin is Copa Airlines’ 15th destination in the United States, which increases the airline’s network to 80 destinations in 32 countries in the Americas.

“We’re pleased to offer greater connectivity to our passengers and contribute to the growth of tourism and commerce in Panama and the countries we serve,” said Christophe Didier, vice president of global sales and distribution at Copa Airlines in a press release.

Nonstop service to Panama City will depart Austin on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons. Return flights will leave Panama City on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings.

The flight will be serviced by a Boeing 737-800.
