Leander City Council approved an $8.28 million contract for the construction and installation of the San Gabriel elevated storage tank at its March 2 meeting.

Located at 1012 Azul Lagoon Drive, the San Gabriel elevated storage tank project is key to help advance Leander’s water system by providing excess water supply to portions of the city, according to meeting documents.

The elevated storage tank will ease some demand from the Sandy Creek water treatment plant and redirect the demand to the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority plant, which has excess capacity, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.

The city received two bids back in January and selected CC Carlton Industries Ltd. to conduct the installation.

Work on the San Gabriel elevated storage tank is planned to begin this spring, according to the city. It is estimated to reach completion in summer or fall 2024.
