Nine candidates are running across three races on the May 7 ballot for Leander City Council.

Place 1, 3 and 5 seats are up for election. Council members are elected at large and serve three-year terms. The deadline to file for the May 7 election was Feb. 18.

Place 1 Council Member Kathryn Pantalion-Parker and Place 5 Council Member Chris Czernek are running for re-election. Place 3 Council Member Jason Shaw is not seeking re-election.

Incumbent Pantalion-Parker and candidate Trey Schisser are running in the Place 1 race.

The Place 3 race has four candidates running for the vacant seat, including David McDonald, Steve Hanes, Roslyn Littles and Juan Alanis.


Place 5 incumbent Czernek will run against former Council Member Annette Sponseller and candidate Bill Louden.

Early voting will run April 25-May 3. Election day is May 7. The last day to register to vote is April 7.


Leander voters will also consider 13 city charter amendments; whether to continue with or withdraw from Capital Metro; and the related sales tax reallocation.

  • April 26: last day to apply for ballot by mail (received, not postmarked)
