Council will consider 11 applicants at the regular meeting. The new council member will be picked following a closed session deliberation. The appointee will serve through the end of the Place 2 term in May.
In a public hearing, each applicant will speak for up to three minutes in opening statements; the public will have the opportunity to comment; and council members can question applicants.
According to city documents, the applicants include:

- Andy Hogue
- Donnie Mahan
- Gerald Prater
- Trey Schisser
- Annette Sponseller
- Nacole Thompson
- Cody Velkovich
The Oct. 15 meeting will begin at 8 p.m. at Pat Bryson Municipal Hall located at 201 N. Brushy St., Leander. The regular meeting will begin later than usual due to early voting in council chambers.
