Incumbent Andy Brown defeated his opponent Rupal Chaudhari in the race for Travis County Judge, holding about 72% of votes. Brown held a consistent lead since early and mail-in voting tallies were announced.

This will mark Brown’s first four-year term as county judge, as he was elected in 2020 after his predecessor, Sarah Eckhardt, left the post of county judge to run for state senator.

Brown’s campaign focused on a range of healthcare issues, from increasing mental and behavioral health services and creating access to COVID-19 vaccines and testing. His campaign also emphasized giving resources to historically underserved communities of color.

“The people of Travis County have spoken and I’m honored to have your confidence as Travis County Judge," said Brown. "Voters have delivered us with a clear mandate to keep our community safe from gun violence, tackle the substance abuse crisis, and expand health care, including mental and reproductive care. As our mission continues, I will continue to work for and with all who call our county home so we can make Travis County the best place to live, build a career, and grow a family."

Brown was elected county judge in 2020 after his predecessor, Sarah Eckhardt, left the post of county judge to run for state senator. He defeated his opponent, Republican Michael Lovins, with nearly 70% of the vote in the 2020 race.

Brown’s campaign focused on a range of health care issues, from increasing mental and behavioral health services to creating access to COVID-19 vaccines and testing. His campaign also emphasized giving resources to historically underserved communities of color.

Chaudhari, a licensed immigration attorney and political newcomer, ran a campaign focused on addressing homelessness, public safety and affordability, with goals to fully fund and adequately staff local law enforcement and cut wasteful spending.
