The winter storm affecting the region will keep Leander ISD students out of school again, as the district has canceled all classes for Feb. 3.

LISD announced the cancellation after determining its facilities staff and crews need additional time to clear debris and assess potential damage on campuses. Authorized events will be allowed on a limited basis. The coach or program director of these events will communicate directly with students with additional information. LISD meals services will not be available.

According to Chief Communications Officer Crestina Hardie, power at LISD campuses has fluctuated. Most have remained with power throughout the storm, with the exception of five or six, but none for a prolonged period of time. As of 12:49 p.m., Feb. 3, Grandview Hills Elementary was the only school without power.

The district does not anticipate the need to make calendar adjustments to make up for the missed school days but will share more information once it becomes available. LISD also plans to resume its normal schedule Feb. 6.
