Due to state-level funding continuing to decrease, the Leander ISD Educational Excellence Foundation delivered 20 different grants totaling $9,650 to 17 campuses and departments around the district on Oct. 19.

The LEEF is a nonprofit organization founded in 2007 dedicated to providing additional opportunities and building community within LISD. Since its inception, the LEEF has awarded grants to several LISD campuses, departments and teachers.

These grants are intended to fund counseling resources, professional development opportunities for LISD staff, books, Makerspace/STEM initiatives and more, according to a LEEF representative.

Campus award recipients include: Bagdad Elementary; Larkspur Elementary; Tarvin Elementary; Akin Elementary; Stiles Middle School, receiving two grants; Rutledge Elementary; Cox Elementary; Faubion Elementary, receiving two grants; Cedar Park Middle School; River Ridge Elementary; River Place Elementary, receiving two grants; Westside Elementary; Mason Elementary; and Giddens Elementary.

In October 2021, the LEEF awarded 20 grants totaling $9,202 to 16 campuses across LISD.
