Recovering from the pandemic, enrollment in Leander ISD for the 2022-23 school year is expected to increase by more than 1,900 students. Although LISD increased starting teacher salaries by $2,620 to $53,520 for 2022-23, the district's average teacher salary lags behind the state's.

Student enrollment

While enrollment dipped in 2020-21 due to the coronavirus pandemic, from 2019-20 to 2022-23 enrollment has increased by 5.65%.

2021-22 student statistics

A smaller percentage of LISD students are economically disadvantaged and English learners than the percentage statewide. The district has a slightly higher percentage of special education students.


Staffing, salaries and substitutes

From the 2018-19 school year to the 2021-22 school year, the number of full-time equivalent teachers in LISD has increased by 280.36 or 10.42%.

In that same time frame, the average teacher salary rose from $52,188 to $56,150, a 7.59% increase.

In 2021-22, LISD Superintendent Bruce Gearing had a salary of $310,000.


The daily rate for substitute teachers in the district ranges from $115-$175 depending on experience and other factors.
