In recognition of National Nurses Day, Leander ISD hosted a gift box drive-thru for LISD’s nursing staff at Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park on May 6.

LISD teachers and staff attended the School Nurse Appreciation Station and thanked each nurse who came to the drive-thru, according to LISD spokesperson Matt Mitchell.

Nurses received coffee, sweets, restaurant coupons and other gifts.

Twelve LISD nurses are volunteering for Williamson County to perform contact tracing, according to LISD.

After receiving training, the nurses’ primary duties involve contacting county residents who have been exposed to coronavirus. They call each day for two weeks to check for symptoms. They also help investigate cases for exposure, travel history and more.
