Note: This story has been updated to reflect that the donated iPads were scheduled to be retired/recycled by Leander ISD.

Leander ISD donated 49 iPads on May 4 to Dell Seton Medical Center in Austin to aid doctors and nurses during the coronavirus pandemic.

LISD board of trustees President Trish Bode informed Superintendent Bruce Gearing that Dell Seton “was looking for some devices for this purpose,” said Matt Prause, LISD’s director of hardware/software support. Gearing then directed staff to donate extra equipment to the hospital, according to LISD.

Laurelyn Arterbury, LISD’s chief technology officer, and Prause delivered the iPads to Stephanie Herbison with Dell Seton.

According to ISD, the donated iPads were scheduled to be retired/recycled.
