As of April 15, Leander ISD has distributed 52,413 free to-go breakfast and lunch meals to students, according to LISD Superintendent Bruce Gearing.
The four campuses serving as pickup locations—Bagdad Elementary, Reed Elementary, River Place Elementary and Running Brushy Middle—have been staffed by 31 LISD Child Nutrition Services employees and administrative volunteers, according to Gearing’s presentation during the board of trustees' April 16 meeting.
To aid students who rely upon meals at school, LISD offers free meal pickup from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. during school days. On Tuesdays only, all four sites also offer breakfast from 7:30-9 a.m.
Leander ISD began handing out free to-go breakfast and lunch meals March 24.
