New Orleans-style restaurant Cajun Skillet opens in Cedar Park

Cajun Skillet opened its restaurant Sept. 25 as an addition to its food truck and catering service. Owners Steven and Shantrese Gillam said their New Orleans-style restaurant serves gumbo, po’boys, fusion tacos, bread pudding varieties and basil lemonade.

Texas Born convenience store coming to Georgetown

Texas Born, a convenience store and quick food operation, plans to open a Georgetown location in June 2021. The store will offer grab-and-go snacks, as well sell fresh food items such as meat, fruits, vegetables, cheeses, bread, cold-press juices and more. The restaurant will feature breakfast, lunch and dinner tacos made with handmade tortillas.

Temporary water shutdown planned for Estates of Blackhawk neighborhood Oct. 6


Pflugerville's Estates of Blackhawk neighborhood will temporarily lose water access Oct. 6, according to a city news release. The temporary shutdown will last for approximately one hour as the Manville Water Supply Corp. runs meter testing.

Hutto's SammySocks Etc. brings employment opportunities to adults with autism

For Hutto residents Mark and Sally Lyons, the path toward launching an online business is rooted in family.

The Lyons opened SammySocks Etc. on Sept. 1, an online-only shop that specializes in the sale of men's, women's and children's socks. The business endeavor, more than three years in the making, was born out of providing employment opportunities to their son, Samuel.

Dog Haus Biergarten to open Four Points location Oct. 10

Los Angeles-based restaurant chain Dog Haus Biergarten will celebrate its grand opening Oct. 10 at 7701 N. RM 620, Austin, according to a press release from the company. The restaurant focused on gourmet hot dogs, sausages, black Angus burgers and craft beer is owned by husband and wife Frank and Cathy Zoella.
