The Northline development in Leander is looking for an artist or group to create a sculpture in Northline Circle, one of the development's public spaces.

The sculpture's goal is to reflect "the spirit of Leander and provide a meaningful, family-friendly art experience that is inclusive and accessible to all," according to a release. The sculpture will be in the center of the Northline Circle area.

Local and regional artists have until March 15 to apply. An informational webinar will be held Feb. 28.

The sculpture budget is $200,000. Installation is scheduled for winter 2022-23 in line with Northline construction, according to the development. Austin-based firm Public City is coordinating the development's public arts strategy.

Northline Circle is designed to be the gateway into the 116-acre Northline mixed-use development, according to the developer. Townhomes, a multifamily development and a mixed-use building will be in the Northline Circle area with the sculpture and park in the center.

The project broke ground in 2020 and will include townhomes, multifamily, office, hotel, medical, civic and retail spaces when complete. Construction is currently underway on a multifamily project. Additionally, townhome construction will begin in March, and construction on The Hub entertainment venue will begin in the second quarter of 2022, according to the developer.
