One Leander city employee has tested positive for COVID-19 as of July 1, but Leander City Council will continue its July 2 meeting in-person.

Leander spokesperson Mike Neu confirmed the positive case and said the employee worked in the office that hosts the municipal court, engineering, planning and economic development departments.

Leander City Council meets in Pat Bryson Municipal Hall in an area separate from city offices, and Neu said city staff may present via teleconference at the council meeting.

Williamson County early voting began July 1 at the Municipal Hall, and voting is unaffected by the positive COVID-19 case, Neu said.

Cedar Park City Council will revert to virtual meetings starting July 9. Cedar Park Mayor Corbin Van Arsdale said discussions of switching back to videoconference began before the June 25 meeting, but the meeting format could not be changed in time. Cedar Park met in person twice after several virtual meetings.

Van Arsdale said a few Cedar Park first responders have tested positive for COVID-19, but no other city employees have tested positive as of July 1.
