Little Free Library, a Wisconsin-based nonprofit, started in 2009 as a way to build community, inspire readers and expand access to books through a network of volunteer-led libraries, according to the nonprofit. Library visitors can check out and drop off books for free at any time at any location.

Today, there are at least 28 library locations in Cedar Park and Leander, according to LFL data. There are more than 100,000 libraries across over 100 countries around the world.

During the pandemic, some library stewards may have closed their libraries or converted them to share canned goods or toilet paper, according to the nonprofit.

Information on how to start and build a library is online at www.littlefreelibrary.org/start.
