It’s been a year of pleasant surprises for Ambrogio “Ambrose” Buraglia, the owner and chef of Guy Tano’s Kitchen in Leander.

“I never expected to be this busy,” Buraglia said as he prepared to open for lunch.

Buraglia’s business opened at 901 Crystal Falls Parkway, Ste. 101, Leander, on Dec. 21, 2018, offering pizza, pasta, subs, calzones and salads, according to Buraglia.

Guy Tano’s Kitchen offers a casual way to get fresh Italian food. Customers order and pay at the counter, get a number and then take a seat, where their food is brought out to them, according to the restaurant’s website.

Buraglia said some of his customers’ favorite dishes are lasagna ($8.95), the deluxe pizza ($16.95) and the New Yorker sub ($8.95).

He also offers special dishes not on the regular menu.

A native of Brooklyn, Buraglia said he learned to cook from his parents, who opened an Italian restaurant in La Habra, California, after moving there when he was 11, he said.

As a child, Buraglia said he learned to cook from his father, who prepared Italian dishes for customers in his restaurant in California.

The restaurant also offers pizza discounts Monday through Wednesday, lunch specials daily and happy hour specials Sunday through Thursday, he said. Guy Tano’s Kitchen also caters, he said, and has a busy schedule with holiday parties.

Buraglia said he has no plans to change his business model or expand out of his storefront on Crystal Falls Parkway.“I like things the way they are,” he said.
