Following severe thunderstorms that rolled through the state May 28, Oncor Electric Delivery customers and customers of energy providers who source electricity from Oncor are reporting outages throughout the utility provider’s service area, which covers much of Central, West and North Texas.

As of 5 p.m. May 29, Oncor’s outage map shows there are more than 15,000 outages impacting over 223,000 customers.

What you need to know

Armando Perez, a representative of Oncor, said the electricity delivery company has been working to remediate issues causing the outages, such as downed trees and power lines, and will likely continue to do so throughout the rest of the day and into the night.

Per the company’s website, repairs are expected to reach substantial completion by May 31, with harder hit areas expected to be completed by June 1.

What they’re saying

The storms that rolled through North and Central Texas May 28 brought heavy winds and lightning, Perez said, causing power outages throughout the service area.

“The heavy wind and the lightning did cause quite a bit of damage across the service territory; not just Round Rock, but surrounding communities as well,” Perez said.
