Canyon Creek Fire/EMS station, also known as Austin Fire Department Station 54 and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services Station 43, officially began service in January with officials holding a grand opening March 8.
The details
The two-story station includes:
- One fire engine, one wildfire brush truck and one ambulance
- An on-site fueling station
- 11 fire dorms and three EMS dorms

Additionally, the department's percent compliance, or the amount of time between a call received to the arrival of AFD units in eight minutes or less, increased by 15% compared to the same time last year.
Some background
Funding for the $20 million station came from the city's 2018 bond.
Construction began in 2024 as the final part of the city's efforts to build five stations in high-priority areas. The four other stations are located in Del Valle, Westlake, Southwest Austin and Southeast Austin, and were completed between 2020-24.
What else?
An Austin Police Department substation could be built next to the fire station, per city officials, but additional details are not available yet about the station's funding or construction timeline.
