The board voted to set the limit at its Feb. 13 meeting after discussing whether the number was still feasible after recent budget shortfalls were announced for the district.
Two-minute impact
The vote set the third GMP, which dictates how much money will be spent on certain improvements, for projects at Cedar Park High School. Previous funding limits for various portions of the improvement projects were set at $10.92 million in October 2023 and $30.61 million in April 2024, according to agenda documents.
The third GMP, approved in February, is funded by the 2023 LISD bond authorization, according to the documents.
GMP No. 3 funds improvements to toilet stall partitions, door stops, technology, elevator controls, the school’s dust collection system and more, according to the documents.
What they’re saying
School board trustee Trish Bode asked LISD administrative staff if the number was still feasible after recent budget announcements. LISD is expected to make around $17 million in budget cuts to reduce a projected $34.4 million shortfall in the 2025-26 fiscal year, according to previous reporting.
A member of LISD administration told Bode the number was achievable.
“I feel confident with supporting this this evening as long as administration is saying you all looked at this,” Bode responded.
